Phuket Sightseeing – Road From Karon to Rawai

Imagine that you came to Phuket for the first time. You chose the hotel in Karon-Kata area, let’s say KK – Karon-Kata Boutique Hotel 🙂 So you need to know everything about the neighbourhoods – where to go, where to eat, what to see nearby. Phuket sightseeing is very comprehensive. Karon and Kata districts are focused on tourists and are well developed. We already wrote about the facilities you may find there and hope it was helpful – Location & Activities. And now let’s go further. If you open the map, you will see one more large and popular district located in just 15-20 minutes drive from Karon – Rawai.

Even the way itself is kind of adventure. The road is winding, with an amazing sea view and on the way you can find not only beautiful panoramas and take photos but many places to spend time in! Briefly about these places that we certainly recommend.

Karon Viewpoint

The first place worth visiting – Karon Viewpoint – is located on the winding road leading from Karon to Rawai through the jungle. Be sure to make a stop on the way to take some photos, especially when the sun is going down. From this point you will see three beaches of the western coast of Phuket – Karon, Kata and Kata Noi beaches.

Black Rock Viewpoint

Unlike Karon Viewpoint this spot is not easy to find. The way to Black Rock Viewpoint is challenging – you need to go through the rainforest above Ao Sane beach. But when you finally reach the place, the stunning sea view will reward you for sure. Black Rock opens the view at Nai Harn beach, Promthep Cape and Koh Man island. The place is rather remote so you can feel the atmosphere of seclusion and quietness being so close to nature.

Nui Beach

Nui beach is a clean beautiful beach which is not easy to find if you don’t know the road. The road leading to Nui beach is rough and bumpy that’s why it’s better not to take a car there. The entry is not free so be sure you have money. For the fee paid you can use an umbrella and a sun lounger. There is a small gym, a steam room, a bar, a restaurant on the beach so you can spend the whole day there. Water activities like snorkeling are also available.

Elephant Ride in Phuket

One of the most popular and exotic activities among tourists – elephant trekking – can be found in that particular jungle on the road from Karon to Rawai. You will not pass by, you will see a large elephant farm with animals standing, eating or walking near the road – Kokchang Safari. The farm is open every day. For tips elephant handlers will take photos of you riding an elephant.

The time for dinner is coming. Now about the places to eat. We think that most of all you would prefer to eat in some sunset restaurant with a breathtaking sea view.

One more place for sunset cocktails – After Beach. The menu includes local Thai and Europen cuisine. Pleasant music is playing. Judging by guests’ reviews, the place is perfect for enjoying the views of the Andaman sea and beaches.

A secret restaurant in the jungle near Karon Viewpoint. Sabai Corner is rather spacious and if you come in the afternoon you can sit hidden from the sun. If you come in the evening – sunset view, friendly atmosphere, good food for a reasonable price.
